Actually, its disconcerting how "circumstantial evidence" can lead prosecutors/judge/jury astray - particularly if you look closely at the Baltovich case. But you're right...there's been several 'slipped-thru-the-cracks' cases like that.
I put that one out as an example since it was the most blatant no-body instance I could think of - plus it was fairly local to me.
