The officer I think acted appropriately under the circumstances and holding him - the result sadly didn't save a life. Any officer is going to feel the pain of what happened, yet even more if he just allowed the guy to kill himself without trying. The cop did try, back up tried. Yet in a panic situation people do stupid things to either protect themselves or to harm others because they are unable to think straight.
I don't see how kneeing the guy in the ribs on the ground and punching him in the
face and head 30 times stopped a drug overdose.

Maybe we should train medical doctors in this method if it saves lives.
