here is how HD works .. a select % of people in the world ( whether TV of Porn ) will invest in all the equipment needed for true HD, whether its the TV, the player, the media.

of that % of people, maybe only 20% of them will continuously buy new media and strictly that new media when posed with a choice of say, an ok Movie vs a Movie they know they want to see. the idea that HD is the decider of consumers is more of an industry driven bar of excellence vs consumer needs.

want an interesting way to watch consumer trending? go look at the amount of people willing to download an HD episode of TV , vs the SD episode of the same show. Even with only an avg of 2 -> 3x video size, most people still go for SD. and mind you, I'm talking about torrents, where they should by all means be capable of watching HD since their computer monitor can typically already display resolutions higher then HD needs for native resolution.

even when it came to DVD vs VHS ( which was a real noticable and huge upgrade, think navigation alone ) DVD only started becoming the winner when it one, was just as cheap to get into the hardware, and two, the media releases dictated the switch was needed. when DVD first came out, it was like being a laser disc owner, I might have known 3 other people with DVD and the release catalog was really limited. that was HD compared to tape, but I don't recall seeing everyone and their mother in a mad rush to denounce VHS.

HD porn typically just shows a bit more details, reveals how poor some of the lighting can be and takes alot more time to start a continuous stream or download ( and most of the time, this is because the content provider while having the media, hasn't really invested in the hardware needed to serve it properly under heavy load ) a nipple is a nipple regardless of if I can see every little bump and hair.
