i think you are confused as to what "democracy" typically means when it comes to common usage. representative officials are elected to pass laws. if people disagree with the laws that are passed, they don't get elected again. laws can be passed. laws can be rescinded.

additionally, you are making a huge assumption that the "majority" of the adult population of a country with a large % of the population still being communist in their beliefs, opposes such a law.... based solely on the fact that you PERSONALLY view it as abuse and unfair.
