Went to the NASCAR race in Daytona.

Was hot as hell during the day and made it very hard to do much of anything. Once the sun started to set it got quite comfortable out. The Jet flyover was the best I've ever seen at Daytona as they basically did a strafing run right over the stands.

Richard Petty paced the cars in a replica of the race car that he won his 200th and last race 25 years ago here at Daytona with president Ronald Reagan watching from the stands.

The start of the race is always amazing as the 43 race cars come back around for the first time doing 190 mph stacked bumper to bumper. The middle of the race was boring but the end was as good as I could ever hope for as the driver I hate the most and don't want to see win, got wrecked on the last on the last lap while leading. The crowd went crazy.

Afterwards the track put on a nice fireworks show and due to the much smaller than normal crowd this year the traffic getting home wasn't a factor. All things considered it was one of the best races I've been to in years. Sadly, it's the first one I didn't bring my camera to

Here's a TV replay of the final four laps and it doesn't get much better than this
