But 99% of the population is going to end up working for someone else, as opposed to being an entrepreneur, and those 99% are going to be much better off with a college degree. The statistics just bear that out. People with 4 year degrees have much higher average incomes and a much much lower unemployment rate than people without.

I totally agree with you %100. What college also says is that this person can be trained and has follow through skills.

The people who hate are the people who did go to college and have shit to show for it, those are the people who sit on forums all day and correct peoples spelling and grammar, last time I checked good spelling and grammar doesn't affect your bank balance.

Those who sat their asses day in and out in college, dreaming up what they will do once they are done, talking about their pipe dreams to their friends and family just to finish college to discover their friends who didnt go are running real companies and making real money, those are the people who have hate.

Here are some billionaires who didnt go or didnt finish any college, maybe if they did they would of been as successful as you?

Bill Gates, Larry Ellison (Oracle), Paul Allen, Michael Dell, Richard Branson (Virgin Atlantic etc. Didnt finish high school), Steve Jobs, David Geffen (didnt know hes worth over 4 billion, oh wait thats because I didnt go to college).

Its all about motivation, dedication and 0 procrastination, tell the story about how important college is needed to the 1000's of Italians, Jews, Russians, Chinese, Greek etc people who came to the USA barely speaking english and all they had was the clothing they had on them and within years became very successful.

Ok let me define these people that you listed above. They are all self motivators with an inner drive for success that cannot be taught. Those are very far and between. People like that are born or have had some kind of adversity in life that drives them. Those kind of people will do well in any kind of business environment.

College gives people the basic tools they need to compete in the work place against other people with the same skill set in the same work environment. I feel that you always need to be an employee before you can be the boss. In BJJ we call it "need to be the nail, before you can be the hammer". I have done internships at companies that would never hire people with out work experience or education . I got incredible amounts of work experience through college internships. I have worked at radio stations, Tv stations, PR and Advertising firms and did photo journalism for the LA Times. This was all made possible through college and teacher recommendations. I made the most out of my time in college. Got opportunities opened up to me that otherwise were closed off.

I am pretty street smart and savvy. I saw all of my friends were going to college and did not want to miss out. Parents money for me to go to school?? I got kicked out of the house when i was 17. There was no help from mommy or daddy. So I figured out how to get my college education and get paid for it. I got the state to pay for my education and books via state grants and i made a shit load for being latin via scholarships. I applied for every scholarship offered and was making way more money in school than if i had a real job. I figured out the system and made it work for me. I used that same system and got both of my younger brothers educated with no debt. One graduated from Law school (partial scholarship and had some debt from law school only). The other from film school (zero debt).

I am a self motivator and a college graduate and i value both equally. I use my education everyday and i always have a burning drive inside to work hard and go after my goals and objectives. Why? Because i know that my competition is not.

As far as Escortbiz, come one man you are a rare breed that may not have a degree, but you are highly educated. You are very knowledgeable about a lot and whatever you may not know at the time you will go out and learn everything there is to know about that particular subject in a week. You are a serious self motivator and you are highly intelligent. you are the kid in the class that has an IQ off the chart and always knows more than the teacher. Your type of person has no need for college because you would be board with the slow learning process. Comparing you with the general public that just graduated is not even remotely fair. And the real world work experience that you bring to the table??? Thats like comparing apples and pancakes.

This is how i would sum up this post; My daughter will go to college. She will get her advance degree. Why???? What if she is not a self motivator? She will have the skills to be a good employees at a good salery.

And if she is a self motivator and has an advance degree she will be that much more formidable when going out to do what she wants to do.
