I disagree. The kids with the degrees will be much better off long term than the kids without, as a whole.
I think this statistic is more a function of these kids being "recent" grads, and therefore looking for their 1st job at a time when nobody is hiring, in fact most companies are laying people off.
I imagine the unemployment statistics for "recent high school dropouts" is pretty bad too.
