Also absolutely correct.
Your "friend" is dead. All that is left is a shell. Addiction has
become that empty vessel. It has a sole, overwhelming, single minded motivation. Getting high. Achieving that one goal is by any means necessary.
Whether they are chasing the dragon, or they are just trying to avoid the withdrawal symptoms. An addict can justify stealing, robbing, or whatever it takes to get their drugs.
