Thanks, DWB. She immediately had the credit reporting agencies put a flag on her account, so that if anyone applies for credit using her name, they have to call here first for approval - and in 36 hours we've already heard from T-Mobile and Sears....it's amazing to me that someone who's trying to use another identity, after being refused a number of times, would keep trying instead of moving on. We *think* we're taking all the right steps --- but I have no doubt that you're right, we'll be dealing with this for years
Nice story on the phone call with the outsourced call center - I'm just surprised that they didn't hang up on you while you were lecturing them; I've gone through the same type of thing, trying to explain how something a bank was claiming was impossible --- and they just hung up.
There *really* are times I wish I could move to the '60s or '70s when this shit didn't happen, and when you called a company, a real person answered the phone right away and tried to be helpful
