Not to mention, people that claim to always "speak their mind" and "tell it like it is" usually just do that as an excuse to be an asshole and don't have the other person's best interest in mind at all, even though that's what they claim.

If someone says to me, "Hey, check out this new project of mine!", I'll congratulate them. If someone says to me, "Hey, check out this new project of mine. What do you think?" I'll tell them what I think. Like I said, if they don't want to really know what I think, don't ask.
And if you believe people "USUALLY do that as an excuse to be an asshole and don't have the other person's best interest in mind", you're either too sensitive, OR you hang out with the wrong people. (Thinking about that for a second. If you mean privately, I stick to what I said. If you mean HERE on GFY, then yes, you're probably right).
