the only difference between the older cameras (what they call fully modified) and the newer ones is that Sony disabled the exposure so you can not adjust it down enough when in nightshot mode. All nightshot mode does when engaged is slide the (infrared filter) out of the way. All normal cameras have this filter built on to the ccd in a fixed position. You can modify any regular camcorder to shoot infrared by taking the camera apart and removing this filter (little blue film) on the ccd, but then in order to shoot normal video again you will have to install an external infrared filter.

by fully modified I mean modified WITH an external filter - not just modified
what nm filters do you use?
