I remember a few years ago I when I was working as a freelance photog, I was waiting for the job I was working on, and this 'homeless' guy turns up and sits down on the ground. This was outside the ACC in Toronto, and Elton John was playing a show. The guy starts talking to me, and tells me that he is on disability benefits and has a two bedroom apartment with his wife -- and he does the 'homeless' thing for some extra money. I kinda ignored him, but when the crowds started coming out after the show had finished people were handing cash over to him like crazy! He had a sign that said something like 'homeless and hungry' and people were giving him $5 ,$10, and $20s left right and centre. He must have made about $200 in about 10 minutes easily. I was thinking -- I am standing here with almost $10k worth of camera equipment, trying to get a shot of Elton and his husband that I MIGHT be able top sell for $200 if I am lucky, and this guy is clearing up pretending to be homeless. What a racket...!
