You forget to mention they will serve shitty coffee. All the Starbucks customers will go there once, maybe twice and then happily go back to Starbucks to PAY for GOOD coffee. The free coffee place will attract other people. People who never went to Starbucks in the first place. People who made coffee at home because they don't have money to spend on Starbucks coffee. They don't mind that the coffee tastes bad because it's free anyway.
