I have some South African friends who turned me on the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Lends a lot of insight into S African humor. I enjoyed them and was excited to hear they were making into a tv series. Haven't caught it yet, but hope to soon.
I also loved Deadwood. Unreal characters, rich history. Both Rome and the Tudors rocked rocked as well.
