It IS important to teach kids to stick up for themselves, but in the face of some odds it's impossible, there's nothing they can do.
This is why it's also important to teach self respect, so that if ever faced with such situations they won't lose sight of their self worth.
There are more ignorant people than enlightened, and that will always be the truth. You can't allow them to influence you unduly.
