Sorry, but these are very strange examples of "freedom". You said: "I can go buy an assault rifle". Why don't you add: "I can go into the nearest school and shoot 100 kids there. Go try that in your country"??? At least you won't denied this is a "normal" story for the USA but absolutely insane think for Russia and Turkey? Yes, I also can buy I traumatic gun to protect myself (it's enough against the riffraff, but not enough to start a bloody bath somewhere). I can also legally buy any smooth-bore weapon including
automatic riffles based on AK (e.g.
saiga). So what???
Now about beer. Ok, you can buy it, but I can even drink it sitting on a bench in the park. Does it makes me more free than you? I go out of my home in Moscow, get a taxi and go to casino or into brothel - both are absolutely legal. Using your words, I can say: go try that in your country. I can continue with a lot of things I can do here but you can't there. However I don't see any reason to do so, because:
1) these are not real indicators of freedom;
2) my country never declared itself "a lend of freedom". Furthermore, day-by-day it's getting more free and more democratic (slowly but I can feel the movement), as about the USA, so you may not be agree with me - read the posts of other GFY-ers: lots of people are complaining that the USA is becoming a police state. Don't you really see that yourself?
