This is easy to do, and you don't even need to be stringent about it, just a little less here and there plus excersize will do the trick.

There is a very easy way to do this without the work you have listed. I do it in reverse in attempts to put on weight. Aside from step 3, I still eat healthy.
Step 1. Throw away/donate current plates and bowls.
Step 2. Buy new plates and bowls - just much smaller ones.
Step 3. Try to slowly make your overall diet more healthy.
*Naturally eat at home more often, and make the actual dishes.
Some of you all are pretty serious and or crazy with what you want others to cut out. Red meats, grains, alcohol, salt, fried food, etc. These are all perfectly fine in moderation and you can point to many country examples to see that it is true.
I know there are some out there that see food only as fuel, but for everyone else - lets not get to crazy about this shit.
