I can't point you to the statute or the case number....and I'm getting ready to leave for Easter and don't have the time to look it up....BUT
People are stopped in airports across the U.S. every day for having large sums of cash. They are questioned by the FBI, DEA, etc.
If this was an illegal practice by law enforcement, a group like the ACLU would have sued the government over this issue and it would have been before the Supreme Court by now.
This has been going on at least since the 1980's when the war on drugs started.
Perhaps you're right that you don't have to tell them, but they also don't have to let you on the airplane. I'm sure a little research would go a long way to finding out the truth about this, if that's what anyone is really interested in.
Now most of the people posting in threads like this are more concerned with their ideology than they are with facts and reason, so even if I did post a case number or statute number they'd still bitch and moan about how that law is unconstitutional and blah blah.
So believe what you want.
This was a staged event, you are no more or less free than you were before Obama was sworn into office.
