When I was reading, I kept seeing reference to putting dd-wrt onto the Linksys, but I am not even sure what that does. My technical knowledge does have it's limits.

dd-wrt is an alternate firmware for the Linksys. I'm far from an expert, but I know it opens up features and tools that aren't available with their stock firmware. I'll be installing it on my Linksys soon.
