I guess if you have 500 pseudofriends it would take a while to catch up with everything... myself, I couldn't give a shit what my 30 REAL friends are doing most of the time, I hardly ever login unsolicited just to see "what's happening"... it's usually only when someone adds me or replies to a group thread.
