I suppose, if you think about it, the Republitard argument is quite logical: Cut off all assistance to the needy, and then arm yourself to the teeth, in anticipation of the wildly increased criminal activities that will inevitably follow.
On average, a person in prison in the US costs $40K p/year to house and care for. No one gets $40K p/year in food stamps, so do the math.
