The most important thing: Do EVERYTHING your doctor tells you to do! It's been about 16 years since I had mine out, but they had to be cut out and ended up in little pieces. Thankfully I was knocked out for it. I had bruising all the way down my face and throat, but I bruise easily.

The doctor gave me medicine to take prior to the surgery to reduce swelling and I didn't have much. I also kept ice packs on my cheeks the first few days (had them tied to my head with my bathrobe belt ).

KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN! He gave me an irrigation syringe that I had to clean out the holes left behind for a few weeks. DO IT!

My son has to get his done in the next few months.
