Sounds like you were married, more or less. Ending a relationship that long is like having a part of your soul chewed off by hell-boars, especially if you weren't the one who wanted it to end. Loneliness is a totally normal feeling to have only a year later. But relationships that long end because they fucking have to, not because people want them to. A part of you will probably always miss the good parts of the relationship. Totally normal.
If you met someone who's business burned down and they were fucking broke, nothing left--what would you tell them to do? Cry your eyes out for a while, close that chapter of the book (cuz it's over) and then get your ass back in gear to start again and build something better. Friends help. Maybe meet some new blood and energy in graduate school. Good luck.
