The opinions expressed in this thread illustrate a much bigger problem in our society, IMO.
People's opinions of whether this guy should be punished, and how severely he should be punished, are based almost entirely on their political affiliation.
We also have people here claiming you'd be a hero if you physically harmed Obama, and others saying it's a shame the President didn't get hurt when this happened.
Bush's policies made my blood boil. His incompetence frustrated me beyond description. Yet I never, ever, wished him physical harm.
He was still my President. Even if you don't like the man, you should respect the office.
How can you be "proud to be an American" and hope that someone physically harms or possibly kills your President?
Do you realize how democracy works? It means that about half of the time, the other guys win and are in charge. Do you only like America when the guy you voted for is President?
It's a really fucked up situation IMO.
