because that's what it always is across the Muslim world. the prevailing attitude/loudest voice is that which supports this type of behavior and anti-western sentiment... even when coming from within your own country.
its that silent majority coupled with the vocal minority that has allowed radical islam to take over large parts of the middle east and Asia. pretending one doesn't compliment the other is a little silly.
at the end of the day, its about who is being heard. just as the basic principle of "Freedom of press" in the US is to ensure (although not perfectly) that both sides of an issue are heard... not having that other equally loud voice of opposition is the same as no opinion/opposition at all since the loudest and most heard viewpoint always has an advantage.
