Yep. When I really need to sleep, I take 2 melatonin (3mg each, so 6mg total) and two benadryl. Works like a charm. I also got one of those digital clocks with the ambient sounds, mine has ocean waves, rain, crickets, white noise, etc. I like the white noise one best -- sounds like a TV tuned to an empty channel, like static turned down very low.
Believe me, I've tried everything. I went through a period of about 8 months where I was phobic about sleeping at night, only felt okay sleeping in daylight, but I NEEDED to sleep at night. The melatonin/benadryl combo was the only thing I hit on that helped me.
