There were very few ISPs, maybe a FREENET in major cities and then a couple ISPs started. When I first got on, it was off a dialup BBS system, they had limited access to the Internet, most everything was text, Lynx, newsgroups, Gopher - big fat bore.
Then a few months later this BBS got access to the World Wide Web and I got Mozilla browser, there was nothing going on. I didn't find much porn. And nobody had even thought about a way to make money with porn. That came a couple of years later.
I forgot about the Internet until 97, then I saw lots of porn, Persian Kitty, Chapo's, Cybererotica, Peepshow.

Subscription adult BBSes were common throughout the early 90's.
