Wow. First off for most processing scenarios they don't even want you hosting on your own server for security reasons, and secondly, perhaps I was not clear about what I meant, yet I just read a PDF on how they prefer you handle the data that is returned from the server using md5 with a simple salt method; yet, you tell me I am wrong about what they recommend. Storing data in your db using their recommended method will get you in trouble, and if they recommend something else, than it should be uniform throughout their documentation.
RSA and MD5 are both algorithms, so you have to get over yourself, and their result keys are transformations of those algorithms. The RSA handshake and cryptographic methods, being based on a public private key system, are just more secure; thus, I recommend RSA.
