Of course, that's the road to long-term riches. The road to short-term riches is buying programs, rarely updating them, cross-selling the fuck out of surfers, maintaining a thousand merchant accounts and customer support sites and banging credit cards.

I'm liking this thread more and more. The AFF funds must be drying up. They're now out trying to find some other suckers. Beginning of the end? Or maybe just an adjustment. Who knows. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.
The problem with this business is it has generally always thought the opposite. Yes there's a lot of talk about retention but the average model of site is anti to retention. As few scenes as possible, shot by someone with limited skills and budget (but give him a HD camera and it's fine ), very little variation on a theme and style and spend a fortune replacing the guys leaving.

We now find it costing more and more to replace the guys leaving, so the solution is to spend more on traffic.

I think you're spot on with the AFF angle. How many of these dating sites are still signing up and spending big bucks advertising and how many retain? To me the idea of a dating site that works, is to meet someone and not spend all night surfing the Net looking for porn. LOL
