You have to hand it to The Butcher. Never have I seen one guy get so much free publicity. And he did all of it with just one copy of vbulletin.

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself if "The Butcher" is guilty of scamming or just creative marketing. It depends on your business ethics really. But I was banned from his board for asking him questions about the number of page views his threads were getting, against Alexa data and why so many people had joined his vbulletin board using names such as "yr093r302fe3".

At the time Google's cache had captured his entire vbulletin memberlist which showed a massive number of inactive members, all with spurious names. At the time The Butcher claimed that his board had been 'hacked' and that the names had appeared by some malicious person with access to his admin. He also blamed his moderators.

Anyone who knows vbulletin will know that even super moderators don't have access to the admin. But it doesn't matter because the QUESTION you have to ask yourself is, WHO would benefit from his board showing a massive membership?

I also remember one of his early sponsors having a banner image in her sig file.... she compared this with her server stats and found that the number of views for the topic matched the number of views in her stats... but unfortunately (for The Butcher) 90% of the hits to that image were coming from the same IP. So basically in a nutshell he was refreshing threads over and over to give the impression that the board was busy.

The main problem being that he was deceiving potential sponsors who would be fooled into thinking the board was very active, when in reality it was not.

Anyone who called him out was labeled a hacker, a liar or just jealous of his status as the leading adult board. He spammed every email address, ICQ number, he created threads about companies using anonymous accounts and then contacted them to register on his board and answer the questions, which he had asked in the first place.

Hell, there's even a thread on B&B mentioning that he had pre-registered accounts for people on his vbulletin system and then emailed the log-in details to people, just coz he had their email address.

There's loads more.... but it's mainly about money and paying moderators and stuff.

If you want more info ask Greenguy or Jim, as they probably still have his real address and phone number from when they exposed him on their old Radio Show.
