Everone in the mission ship dies one by one until its just the hippie guy and the girl.
They come up with a last second idea after they had already written themself off as dead and sail back to main land earth unharmed.
Oh yeah, and they save the day with nuclear bombs (in the core) to get the shit spinning in the core again so the world's EMF is back in line.
