Because of the community standard rule they will never define the law. This way people in individual communities can define for themselves what they consider obscene. This isn't a terrible thing. If someone wants to live in a sanitized, perfect little town where nobody swears, the milk man delivers milk in a glass bottle every morning and nobody has sex that should be up to them to do. But if they leave that town they should understand that they may see things that could offend them and that their morality shouldn't be forced on the rest of the country.

If the internet convictions stand for Max it would essentially say that at any given time any small community in the country could define for the entire internet what they should and should not be able to watch and they can base that finding and definition on a 20 second video clip.

The community standard rule in general is good thing. When it is applied to anything that does not effect your community it is a terrible thing.
