I guess only the OP could say if that's what he's talking about. I'm not denying it exists here, buuuuut - as i said, "wtf is sunday dinner" - besides dinner on sunday.
The fact that you haven't heard of it is rather sad actually. It seems these days that quite a lot of people around the world are, as is already said by others in this thread, too busy and too technology-ridden and too tired and just too otherwise occupied to set aside a day for family each week. An open-eyed look around and it becomes pretty obvious that a lot of people, kids especially, could probably use more in the way of family tradition such as this.

In my own family a lot of years went by where no one did much in this way except for random visits here and there. But after I'd been out and living on my own for many years, after buying a house and living in it for some time, my parents decided to start going out to dinner on Sunday and inviting us along. Before long it became a tradition, and for over 10 years now I try very hard not to miss it. My mother is elderly and not up to going out much any longer so we often have the Sunday meal at their house, and other members of the family often show up. Other times I'll go out just with my dad for dinner, then go back to their place for a visit afterwards.

I really don't know what other families do or what people know of it. What I do know is that whenever someone asks "Are you close with your family?" I can say with all honesty "Yes I am", and having a regular day set aside for spending time with family plays a sizeable role in that.

I suppose the greater question in this thread would be do you think family is important? My answer is I happen to think that it is.
