It's such an unfortunate thing. She sounds like she has a great spirit and will to live. I think if it doesn't kill her, it will truly make her stronger and she will probably make the most of this sad situation. I've met people who are quadriplegics who could barely talk accomplish things that fully able people don't even dare to try.
This story definitely makes me grateful for what I have no matter how achy and old I feel when it gets cold.
