The first country to put a man in space now has an economy that resembles that of Third World nations: primary exports are raw materials and most imports are manufactured goods. That sort of situation will lead to weird shit like you would not believe. Add into the mix a regime that is totalitarian in all but name and you get a recipe for 'wtf?' moments
