They would have continued to do so, they didn't just develop a change of heart and start eating Sushi all of a sudden... Yes the US dropped two atomic bombs and killed a lot of civillians... and it stopped the war. Which means the Japanese stopped butchering 'HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS' OF CIVILLIANS civillians and torturing to death POW's. Are you having problems understanding that concept?
