i use a bunch of different software
boilsoft video splitter for splitting wmv/avi/mpg ($35)
adobe flash cs3 encoder (comes with flash cs3) *check adobe.com*
frame shots (grabs frames easily from mpg/avi/wmv) ($30)
video charge i own but havent really used it lately.
