Stopping advertising is the only sure fire way of shutting them down. All the other suggestions are useless.

Will record and film companies go after those breaking copyright laws?
Will it make any difference if they do?
Will making the model PB have of sharing links, illegal in one country stop them moving to another?

The answer to all of the above is no. But if the US made it illegal to advertise on sites with links to illegal content they would go in a week. Without advertising revenue they become unprofitable.

I'm not saying it's easy, but it has more chance of working than anything else.

However if you think your business model of selling a 30 day membership to a guy who can get off on Torrent downloads you're doing something very wrong.
