Religion is there to be used by those in power to control those not in power, keep them in power and an excuse to do as they please.
Something like 4000 years ago a guy walked up a mountain to talk to God. He came back down and told everyone that God had told him this land was for them and they should kill everyone there.
Or something like that.
The bible, Koran and Talmud are so full of holes it's stupid that anyone in 2009 gives them any credence. But the Jews still maintain Israel was given to them by God and they have every right to it. Every right to throw other people off their land, make life a misery for them and bring in more Europeans to swell their ranks. Even if it was decided that certain areas should be for those other people the Jews still put illegal settlements on that land. They do this with the excuse that it's to protect themselves and it was given to them by God.
After all the persecution the Jews have suffered it seems it's now their turn to make others suffer.
On the other hand Hamas is a terrorist organisation that feeds itself on hate and violence. They would be sending rockets over what ever the agreement was. Even if Israel was returned to them they would find someone else to target. Someone like us.
The Arabs control most of the cheap to get rich oil in the world. If with their financial clout they can't counter the backing of the Jews with Israel why should anyone give it back? On the other hand would you want the Jews controlling the worlds oil?
If God is all knowing and all seeing he must of known oil was going to be the fuel of the 20th and 21st century. So why did he give his chosen people a great place to grow olives and oranges and not tell them to go into Saudi while they were wandering? My ironic humour again.
