The Bush administration spent so much time spinning bullshit disinformation to win public and UN approval that they forgot to prepare people for a protracted conflict with hundreds or thousands of US casualties.

It will not be protracted and casualties are to be expected, and it could go into the thousands before all is said and done, but I seriously doubt it and the US is used to casualties as we have engaged our military more than any country in modern history.
