I have anaheimducks.info and when I was updating it daily, I was outranking ducks.nhl.com and anaheimducks.com in Google for top keywords. Don't believe the hype, .info don't incur special penalties. Though I am sure they may be subject to more bot scrutiny, especially if all your backlinks are all from other .info domains, etc...
