Having an Oscer's party tonight. Doesn't sound like a big deal but as they are on in the early hours of the morning over here and we are all old farts it is pretty hip for us.
Anyway, as always it is what *should* win vs what will win.
LOTR won't win, The Pianist was a wonderful film but he can't come to pick it up and the accademy will hate that. So, it is between Chicago and Gangs of NYC because they are the type of film the academy likes.
Prediction: Chicago
Very strong field this year. Nicholson, Cage and Brody were all bloody excellent. I would love them to give it to Nicholson for letting himself look old and doing a great job of it. However, I am thinking that since they won't give the Pianist the best picture that they may give Adrien Brody the token award for the Pianist. Not totally undeserved since the film is more or less a one man show.
Prediction: Adrien Brody
Between Julianne Moore and Kidman. Kidman had the nose thing and has basiclly been begging for the statue. Salma Hayek should get it just for playing a lesbian and letting me have my fantasy.
Prediction: Nicole Kidman
They are going to give Walken his dues and he already got the BAFTA.
Prediction: Christopher Walken
Wish they would give it to Bates but Zeta Jones has been almost sucking as much academy cock as Kidman for this one.
Prediction: Catherine Zeta- bloody- Jones
Prediction: Martin Scorsese - a brave academy if they don't.
Haven't seen many of these so I will just guess.
Prediction: Gangs of NYC
