They used to be a bigger deal in the UK before broadband took over. Back then they were near enough the only way to get on the net without paying local phone charges (local calls cost here) because they offered an 800 number to dial into. I had an account with them for years because I wouldn't have been able to be online working otherwise.
Since broadband they are barely talked about. They do offer their own broadband package but so do all the phone companies and about a trillion other companies.
