My experiences as an employee tell me that it takes someone with true leadership ability who is personable and has a way with people that eases tension and encourages good performance that makes the best boss... but unfortunately there simply aren't many bosses like that. Most often times the absolute dumbass jerk is the one given the promotion or put in charge.
My experiences as an employer is that the best employees not only value their job and the opportunity you've given them but they also take pride in their work and in their reputation of being on time and showing initiative. But again, unfortunately... most employees don't possess those qualities. Finding one is like striking gold, and when you do find one (or several) it is the wise employer who will find ways of rewarding them enough and in the proper way so there won't be all this "Fuck I hate my job/boss" crap going on.
Smart business people with an ounce of sense in their heads will find a way to get it done.
