A. They were not "bombing the shit out of people". They were bombing the shit out of specific military targets in the center of the city, where the Iraqi *people* are not allowed to go. Only military and elite pussbags are allowed in there.

B. For no reason? Okay, taking out the "elite" republican guard, military communications, headquarters, symbols of the regime (such as Saddam's posh palace that he built with gold and marble while his people were starving), and possibly the regime leaders themselves is no reason?

C. "When most forces encountered are already surrendering"
Ahh, now I see part of your problem. You have no concept of time and chronological events. Let me explain this in easy-to-understand terms:
The bombing started at the same time that the forces started moving into the country. It takes longer for forces to reach Baghdad than it does for planes. Therefore, the bombs hit Baghdad before the forces encountered any surrendering troops. The bombing occurred Wednesday night (our time), the first surrendering troops were encountered Thursday afternoon.
In real plain terms: the bombs were dropped BEFORE any troops surrendered.
