This board used to have a lot more "big" and "important" drama... companies calling each other out. This led to more readers and more traffic. The more readers and more traffic lead to more advertising dollars. It used to be more of a "don't like it? Advertise somewhere else" mentality.
I wonder if over the years traffic has dropped, which in turn advertising inquiries have dropped, which in turn means that the board needs to extend more privileges to advertisers in order to keep them.
