I'm an artist capable of that calibur of work...but when I began exploring possible jobs I found that the time and effort involved is such that offering competitive prices fell short of amounts that would make such work profitable.
The process I use is somewhat time consuming granted, as I use hand drawn lineart that is colored digitally, which produces the look you see at joephillips.com. But even if I refine the process I still would have to charge outrageous prices to make it worth my while.
I guess what I'm tryin to say is this...to me my prices and turn over time seemed so high/long that I can't imagine how anime artists that are worth a damn make money dealing in bulk.
Are there any other artists here that have the same problem...how do you solve it? Do you just charge out the wazoo? Do you still get work?
