What I'm saying is, you can do what you want with component video output as well, but you still need a convertor to go to your projector. Your projector should have came with a vga/component video adapter.
The component video outputs on a bluray player, outputs a 1080i signal.
The HDMI output, outputs a 1080p signal. If you cant use 1080p anyway, whats the point in using the 1080p output when you only need 1080i to begin with.
The red/green/blue cables on bluray = 1080i maximum.
