i think he saw that episode in south park where cartmen in herits a amusement park and denies people from entry, causing them to bid up the ticket prices due to excess demand, in which the reverse psychology of denying entry has spiked curiosity and and further consumer taste towards the entry ticket, in order to maximize their utility.
