Very true.
The whole "band of gypsys" affair was a little bit forced as far as it's rumoured Jimmi was under pressure to finally create and concert with an all black band. Billy Cox was his old buddy from the army, then they added an all star drummer Buddy Miles. I like the record a lot and "changes" is one of my all time favourite songs.
But compared to his original Experience works I would say it's different - more intense / political and less relaxed / inspiring / experimental.
